Completed staff work
Successful task forces and investigations, need completed staff work!
This means doing the following:
* Make certain you have understood the task from start
* Make certain you understand what is expected of you and the task. Including the expected result and how the result is to be presented
* If you need resources of any kind to do the task, get an agreement that you may present you needs shortly (and do it according to completed staff work)
* Perform the task force/investigation. Unless you are asked to report progress, do not disturb your assigner unless absolutely necessary.
* Report the task in the manner agreed
* If it is a presentation: Give your recommendation on the first slide
* If you recommend an action, prepare the decision in advance, including communications, letters etc to be signed by the decision maker.
A recommendation is not worth anything - unless it is implemented!
